The Fremen already know the world Paul enters

A chosen-one framing can hide expertise in plain sight.

Reading scope: Premise-level discussion; later story turns are not detailed.

Paul and Jessica need people who know how to live on Arrakis. The Fremen are not simply the audience for Paul’s abilities; their practices and collective goals make survival and political action possible.

The closer look

A better question than “how does Paul save them?” is “whose work makes Paul’s story possible, and what do they want?” That question makes the hero’s rise more interesting and less comfortable.
